    Hello,
I'm running Vista Familial on a Sony VAIO FE 31Z and I think I have a problem with the battery remaining time. It only shows a % of th remaining battery but never shows the time left. I've tried a lot of gadgets on my sidebar but all show 0:00

    any ideas ?

    thx

OOO - I think that's something to do with Vista. Try installing XP, and if the problem persists go back to Vista and check your battery.

Isn't that bit of a mental suggestions to make just to check whether the battery indicator is displaying 0.00Hrs left on it?

Anyway I think you're probably missing some drivers for your Windows Vista, well drivers for the Sony laptop. How did you upgrade it? Just yourself and stuff? Think you need some specific ACPI drivers or something like that? I'm not too sure, the other guys here know more about those bits and pieces. :)

I also realised that a software like Battery Mon can estimate the remaioning time so why Vista couldn't !

But the software does work on Vista but any gadgets showing the remaining time don't work.

I have the same issue with my VGN-FE890 Vaio. It's clearly an issue with the ACPI driver that comes with certain systems. My father's SZ series doesn't have this problem at all. This new computer has been such a hassle. I'm miserable and am NEVER buying a new operating system again until SP1 comes out. MSFT and SONY are awful.
