I’ve had my Song VGN-N130G for about 11 months now, and ever since then I have used my computer rigorously, everyday. I have had the battery plugged in the most of the time; (when its in my dock, I have it connected to a 22” monitor, mouse, keyboard, 500GB external drive) and of course I’ve used it during my mobile ventures. I’ve recently installed RightMark CPU clock utility and Notebook Hardware Control they both agree that my battery only has a 3% degrade in the past 11 months, is this normal?

Does it really make a difference? to have it plugged in with the battery rather than without it ? I've heard that batteries now have a chip to know when to stop charging, and using the battery, and therefore not degrading the battery .
