Hey guys, my sony sz38gp have a battery problem i think since the first day.

Everytime i fully charged it, the battery indicator always drop greatly to about 90% after i plug out the charger and the battery life is not as long as stated its only about 2hrs plus and i used 3 bar brightness and all devices off except for wifi.

I notice this problem but i couldn't search for a solution other then using battery saving schemes. Guys pls help..... :)

If yor battery drops instantly from 100% to 90%, when you take your AC Adapter out, then there is something wrong with the notebook. Its probably, just a problem with the circuit in the battery, which monitors its capacity. If it drops from 100% to 90% overnight, it is nthing to worry about. Almost all notebooks do this, but it seems some Sony models do it more than others.

Same problem. It goes from 100% to 70% in 20 min.
    It started few weeks ago.
Before it was OK (I have it from april 2006)
Does this mean that I have to replace my battery (SZ1XP) ?

It happens with SZ only. There is no problem with other models.

I just bought a sz270 couple of days ago and after my sz is fully charged and it saids it was at 100%. after i unplug the ac adapter it went down to 93% within a couple of seconds later. does that mean i need to replace my battery or is there something wrong with my system?? by the way i get around 3 1/2hrs when i just surf on the web.

If your battery is able to last a while, I don't know... something around 2+ hours perhaps the battery is fine, just the internal monitoring circuit has something up?

Mine lasted fine for over 7 months but about a month ago I noticed that the battery life decreased significantly. I used to get around 2-3 hours easy with wifi in heavy use. But then it suddenly tanked and I get around 20 minutes tops if I'm lucky. It would literally go from 100% at unplug to 60% area within 1-2 minutes. And down to 5% in about 10-15 minutes. After a few times of that I decided it was time to get a new battery.

With a new battery everything was fine again, getting easily 2+ hours with wifi use.

I suggest trying calibration, otherwise, a new battery.
