    Hello all,
Today I bought new laptop, sony vaio VPCEH3AEN/B.

I want to know how to care for it's battery. I can't find the option to limit it's charging to 50% or 80%, that option was there on my previous laptop NS110E.

Any idea how to manage the battery on my new laptop?

Do I need to download any software for that? If so, then please guide me to that software.

I really want to take care of battery on my new laptop as I manage to destroy my previous laptop's battery very fast due to not taking proper care.

    Kind Regards
    Amit Bindra

Have you by any chance done a clean install? If so, then you have missed the various Sony bits of software that are needed for this. Check out the clean install guide applicable to your model.

Normally, it should be VAIO Control Center> Power Management> Battery

    Hey anytimer
Thanks for the reply mate. No I haven't done a clean install, it's just out of the box.

There is the Battery option in VAIO Control Center but unfortunately there's no option of "Enable Battery Care Function" :(

I haven't installed or removed anything as of yet.

Nearly 5 hours gone and I am still not able to connect the support. One number is dead and the other always give the message that it's busy.

    Still no luck :(

All the lines still busy, well they better shut down the customer care for good at-least it would mean that customers like me don't waste their time trying to contact them.

Maybe you have old numbers. Google for new numbers. Or check on the Sony site, or at a Sony store.

Finally able to contact them but to no use. They can't provide a solution to this problem.

They weren't even sure if the battery care function is available in this model. Asked me to format which I won't bother as I had checked the battery care function immediately after starting my laptop that's the first thing I did so I am sure format won't help, it will just be a pain to install all the apps again and I don't want to go through that.

I have told him that I am not happy that the promised services/utilities are not available on the system and that they should replace it but I am not sure how much of a impact my complaint will have on them.. Will mail them again in the evening.

Try uninstalling Notebook Utilities and Sony Shared Library, then reinstalling Sony Shared Library and Notebook utilities. The order is important.

If you have a Windows DVD (or just download an iso from digitalriver) try out a clean installation in a VHD (virtual hard disk) that you can discard once you have figured things out. Download the drivers etc. from here:
    Support for VPCEH3AEN : E Series (VPCE) : VAIO™ Notebook : Sony Asia Pacific

Thanks mate. I would have done that but unfortunately I am not able to locate as to where these are installed. It's not visible in Control Panel/or Vaio care. I have also installed a third party uninstall application but still can't find it and I am sure I have installed them.

You don't install them - they come pre installed along with the operating system when you get the laptop, and they get installed again when you do a system recovery (complete or C drive). They are already installed on your system, or you would have been complaining about the function keys not working. Even VAIO Care is listed in Control Panel>uninstall programs.

Post a list of the entries in your control panel uninstall programs section.

Here's a list of all vaio programs in Control Panel-

I would really appreciate if you can tell which of these are safe to remove as I don't think I need any of these only need those which are required for battery care function.

    Thanks

Are there any others not in the list above that have Sony Corporation as the publisher?
