    Hi

I just noticed that my battery is drained even when shut of or hybernated. I lose some 10% per 24h. Is that normal??? It's worse when hybernating but I thought this eats no battery at all.

Is the battery plugged in and charging or left alone during those 24 hours?

I'm probably guessing unplugged, and yes that is about correct. The battery power will not stay at 100% even after you charge it up full and leave it aside. I remember when I left my PDA out of the charger and it had drained 30% in 36 hours.

cowboy- yup. go read previous posts about battery issues. Its a Sony thing. Hybernation and even off can drain the battery that fast.

Ok thank you, although I know now that this is not unusual its kinda annoing if you charge the battery to 100% and when you wanna work with it the next day you don't have even 90% when fireing up the machine.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for sharing this.
    This is VERY bad design.
How can a computer which is switched off lose its charge so quickly?

believe me both star and i agree. but it does. i had a sony tr before and it would lose no power in standby. its really nuts. however i have no problem in hybernation. i think i remember losing about 2% to startup and shutdown.

Na, its more than that. Hybernating over nights costs me some 5-8% charge. Not much of a problem but I expected much less. On the other hand the Samsung of my wife (the batttery has a wear level of 38% already after 4 years) sometimes looses 30-40% overnight hybernating. That's quite random on that machine while the loss is pretty much the same with the SZ2.

Besides I saw other strange thigs with the battery. The first days it charged up to 80% and the final 20% took ages because the charge rate dropped form the usual 17-18W down to 2-4W. That became better and it is now charging faster, guess the battery needs some training. The last time I noticed though that even with the battery fully charged at 100% there's still a charge rate of 9W forced onto the battery. That can't be good in the long run.

ok that is strange. using NCS at 100% charged, I get +.087w charge going to the unit. My battery is warm by the end of the day, but not sure if its becuase of the charge or because the unit is warm.

What is NCS? I'm checking it with NHC, maybe it's just not displaying correctly. I noticed this only once, maybe a reboot will fix that. Normally, if on AC and the battery is 100% I'll take it out anyway - better for the battery.
