I've had teh SZ110 for almost 2 weeks now, and while I love it - it has has a significant problem. The time on the clock changes very slowly. 10 minutes in real time takes roughly 2 hours to pass on the clock. I tried changing windows clock settings, bios settings, and updating the bios but I still have the problem. Also, when I shut down the computer, it can take 10-15 minutes just to shut down. I called up Sony today and they said that it's probably something defective with the battery and I have to send it to them. The rep also mentioned that this is usally something that happens to older batterries. I'm annoyed because the process will take some time between 1-2 weeks in which I will be latopless. Has anyone else experience this problem?

On a side note, Sony's tech support was decent. Hold times were lengthy but it was nice to speak to someone who speaks English well AND seemed to know what they were talking about. It's a big change from Dell's Customer Service

You have to send the whole notebook to them? I guess they want to make SURE it's just a battery issue.

Incidentally, will the system not run without a battery installed?

Sounds like your CMOS battery is defective. This small battery is located inside your notebook and is not easily changed.

If you bought it recently, this would qualify as a defect and you should go exchange it for another.

I would never send a brand new laptop in for repair, that’s ridiculous!!

I have a feeling it would take quite a while if i exchanged it. I got it from Amazon and I believe they are backordered. I think its easier just to repair it, i'm not thrilled about the situation but what can i do.
And BLackG35, you're probaly right that it's the CMOS so I have to send it back.
