Hi everyone. I just got a VGN-SZ220 and I installed Vista Ultimate on it, with all the correct drivers.

I have the stamina/speed set to stamina and I used the Vaio power management to turn off most things I don't use. I still maybe get 2 hours our of the standard battery. Has any one else had this issue? Is the performance better with XP? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Not exactly the same, but with the standard battery my SZ460 with Vista Business could get 3.5 hours of battery life easily even at closer to full brightness. Granted, the LED backlit screen probably gave an extra half an hour to an hour of battery life, but 2 hours still seems low.

There is a utility vista laptop battery saver that sets the theme to vista basic when on batteries, it helps a lot. Also make sure that your fan setting in Vaio power options is either adaptive, or 3 (1 or 2 provides better battery life with reduced performance).

Remember to boot under AC power (and wait until the drive stops thrashing) before switching to batteries, then hibernate and not shut down while on batteries.

Thanks for all replies. I am currently trying the Vista Battery saver program under the stamina setting. I'll see how it goes,

    Thanks again
