Dear all
I forgot my Z-series plugged in AC ( switched off ofcourse) for about a month or 3 weeks. I am so terrified that this might have affected the battery life? The laptop is brand new that makes me more upset![]()
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Best regards

if the battery is already charged full.. it will stop charging even if its pluged in...

If you want to check for reported battery wear, you can try use a number of programs such as HWMonitor or BatteryBar.

I have been using this >

It's a laptop. It uses a battery. It will degrade over time, starting the day it ships out. It's the nature of the beast. Don't worry.

My 15" laptop is plugged in 98% of the time. Sometimes for months on end. It'll be fine.

The battery in my old SZ has been plugged constantly into AC for 3 years and still gives excellent battery life. And this is before the new "VAIO Care" or whatever feature which prevents it from staying 100% charged.

Bottom line, batteries will die eventually. Chances are by the time your battery life is depleted enough that it's annoying (like less than 30 minutes) you will most likely be ready for another laptop anyhow. Plus batteries aren't THAT expensive any more either. I'd rather pay $100 for a new battery after two or three years if I needed the battery life in it for another year than buy a new laptop too.
The technology to keep your battery properly charged has advanced significantly, and you probably wouldn't garner much benefit from removing it.
Battery plugged for a month
