Sony is to ship me a customized FZ190 in a few days. Reviews say that the related FZ180 model comes loaded with souped-up advertisements for all kinds of software. The ads use lots of memory and slow down operation.

Does Vista have an "add / remove software" feature similar to earlier versions of Windows? Is this an efficient way to remove the undesired "bloatware" (some call it by something more profane) and speed up the laptop performance?

I read that some people do a clean reinstallation from scratch, but this seems a bit drastic, especially since I don't know the the "restore" disk will include the Office or other software I requested.

    Any comments or advice welcome.

Use PCDecrapifier, it does a good job of removing most of the bloatware. And yes, Vista has Add/Remove Programs.
