I am sure that they outsource their extended warranty and that it's all covered by insurance. They should easily be able to do it for half price.

Might as well pick it up from Best Buy if it's the config you want. You pay tax if you order from Sony anyways...

restocking fees in case you get a lemon but one that they are not likely to judge as a lemon, i.e., dead pixel, severe light leakage, crappy keyboard.
they're just going to say as long as it works, it is not a defect.

Personally, I'd order from Portable One rather than Best Buy. They have over a dozen different SZ6 configurations, there's no tax (unless you live in CA, I believe), they offer free FedEx shipping, and their service is infinitely superior to anything you'll ever get at BB. You can email them with a question and get a response in minutes.

I guess Best Buy does have one advantage: When you bring in your laptop to resolve an issue, the Geek Squad steals all your personal photos and mp3s off the hard drive. That kind of service may be worth paying extra for.

Just noticed in the upcoming Best Buy weekly mailer that they have the SZ650 on sale this week with $150 instant savings, bringing the price down to $1899. Not bad if you're looking to pick it up.
