    Hi all again,

After some trial and error installing drivers from laptopvideo2go, I successfully found a driver that works well on my SZ, and have been using it for a while now (with help from a number of members on NBR, of course ;) ). However, I have only recently realized the issue of the amount of heat that my SZ is producing, and have come to the conclusion that the driver may have something to do with that. Before the change of drivers with the stock Sony ones, I have had already one too many burnt-lap scenarios, and was wondering whether anyone has found an optimized driver that excels in both performance and in coolness, whether it be from laptopvideo2go or from Sony (stock). I already use a notebook cooler, but it's always set on max and creates quite a bit of noise, plus it's no fun lugging it around with me when I'm not at my desk. Thanks all again!

First I dare say your missing one crucial bit of information.
    Graphics driver for what?
The Intel Chipset or the possibly faulty NVidia??

If its the Chipset, I'm fine with Sony's driver. After oner or two hours it gets warm, but not so that you burn your lap.

NVidia - way to hot for my taste when playing games (used it for two weeks - and that's about it :D don't need it) so it was on a desk because it does get very hot. (and aroung 58°C to 60°C idling)

Then, if your going on about the Chipset, if it gets very hot, try cleaning the laptop. It might be clugged shut with dust.
(A vacum clenaer worked wonders on a Medion laptop owned by my mother, definitely a huge differnece, I wonder where all that dust comes from...)

I apologize for leaving that bit out; I was referring to the Nvidia on the most part, but especially now as the weather is presenting climbing temperatures over here, I'd be grateful to know solutions on keeping temps down to a minimum even with the Intel ones. One quick note: when I'm at my desk, I usually leave my AC adapter plugged into my lappy; is this a bad idea (for both the battery and the heat) and what can I do better? Thanks!

If you use your battery also, leaving your laptop plugged in is no problem at all, especially if you use the battery care function (mine is set to 80%)

Now the NVidia will get hot - also, you might want to have a look at this thread:

iisdev was friendly enough to write a very good overview. So using the Intel Chipset is a good idea.
Also your Chipset will get warm (but not hot), however when its hot all around you cooling will be dificult.
I suppose your laptop cooler is a good idea, as else you can do nothing really - except maybe cleaning the laptop?

I apologize for the very late reply, but thank you so much for your response.

Thing is, I've got the SZ4 series, so I don't have the battery care function, only something called battery checker which I can't for the life of me figure out how to access/what to do with it. I think it's just the battery meter.

I thought that there would be a solid answer to which driver would help my lappy run the coolest, but I guess it's dependent on a lot of factors. Thanks!
