EDIT: I'm so sorry, it's been a while. Can this be moved to the main Sony forum? Thanks!
I think my HDD is going out. It makes a clicking noise (like it's seeking for something), and my computer freezes in the meantime. When the clicking stops after a minute or so, it resumes back to normal. My Event Viewer has tons of errors, like "driver detected controller error on \device\ide\ideport0 And I am getting BSOD every so often now.
Anyhow, a 7200 RPM one would be nice. I almost always have my laptop plugged in anyway, so I don't worry much about power.
Any suggestions?
I will be using this guide to replace it. If anybody has other installation suggestions, please suggest! Thank you in advance!http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/283218-guide-upgrading-sony-sr-hdd-ram.html

I suppose any SATA drive would work. If you wanted more speed and don't mind less storage, you could purchase a small SSD. How much disk space do you need and how much are you willing to spend?
By the way, have you already tried checking your disk for bad sectors like with HD Tune or similar? -
I would definitely go with a SSD if you can afford it. once you go SSD you wont look back.
here is a good deal for a 120gb for $103 shipped:
Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR120GB 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
for other deals check passwird.com and type ssd in the search box.
