There really is no ' best ram' for a laptop perspective, there are some ram that are deemed better quality and then after that its just preference.

Some that come to mind are like Crucial, OCZ, Corsair. (There are more that make good quality ram)

Now keep in mind, people have different experiences, I think some do not like Corsair as much. Personally I haven't had a problem with any of these 3 so they are fine for me.

For a desktop perspective its a bit different because memory timings and speeds come into play more so then laptops. On a laptop you can't really tweak the memory timings much, maybe on some but majority no. On a desktop though you can overclock and tweak (tighten and loosen) the memory timings.

Oh for my laptop I got Corsair, Crucial was a possibility for me but they charge a lot more so I opted to go with the Corsair, the timings are exactly the same.

667MHz Kingston ValueRam Series and Corsair ValueSelect Series are good.
