I am going to order a laptop within a few days. If it is the SZ360. which is the best dealer? I looked and J&R a while ago and they had free shipping.

Is it the best dealer or deal you are looking for? If its the best dealer Portable One is probably the way to go. If it's the best deal check out amazon.com.
By the way if you want to try J&R ask for a discount, in the past I've ordered a few things from J&R and when I told them I could get the item cheaper at another online retailer (that is if you're not buying it in their store) they gave me a better price. It's worth a shot.

In the long run, the best dealer is more important, IMO. I will look at PortableOne and J&R.
I have not searched but is there a prefered mail order dealer on SZ laptops?

I live on the opposite coast but I would buy from J&R any time.
Great customer service. They are trusted, reliable and aim to please the customer, thats been my experience.
I just bought my Sony from them, best price and only $33 for next day shipping clear across the country.

I have order from them before as well as bought from the store. They have free shipping now, so I may go with them.

I second Portable One, mostly due to grounds of cost and especially service. P1 can handle repairs, so you dont have to deal with Sony.

I presume that the SZ from J&R contains the factory loaded bloatware. Will the SZ from Portable One have it as well, even if you change the disk size?

Yes, my Vaio had the BW from J&R.
It only takes 10-15 minutes to delete all of the BW then run CC cleaner and check your registry under software and delete the left over titles that CC or xp didn't clean.
    Finished and no more BW.

Thanks, although I do not know about CC cleaner, I will have to search for that. Short of the DVD burner/player software all the other BW can go?

I kept everything that had a "Sony" on it (depite many claiming it to be useless-and it is), simply for the sake of doing so.

Delete directories in Program Files and use the Windows search function and other Registry cleaning programs in addition to CCleaner.

Another place they like to hide:
Goto folder options and check show hidden files
then proceed to documents and settings.
I have 4 folders in there, all users, administrator, deault user and my name(me)
Go into administrator and click application data and remove orphan folders there and then go back and click on local settings folder and repeat removing orphans. do this for all users and your file folder.
don't be scared to click on folders to see whats hidden.
application data folder does but local setting folders do not exsist in all of the user folders,
