I think the title is self explanatory, just want to know which Vaio you guys think had/has the best screen of any Sony notebook till date. I do not know much about pre-2007 Vaios but have heard good things about their screens. So which Vaio has/had the best quality screen according to you? :)

From all the Vaio screens I have seen, I have to pick the F2 3D without a doubt. A different class altogether.

    "best" based on what?

I for one prefer glossy screens as they give much better detail-quality and accuracy. Others prefer matte.
I don't like the resolution to be too high on a small screen (find anything over 1366x786 for a 13" inconvenient and bad for the eyes). Others prefer it this way. I enjoy vivid colors, but know people who tell me my display is over-saturated (the way it is set).

So there is no "best" - there is only "better" based on predefined parameters and requirements...

But logically the multimedia series screens (such as the F) tend to be better than business oriented screens.

*Best* in terms of overall image quality :) Not any single parameter like best sharpness or best colors or best black leves, a combination of everything makes the "best" screen.
P.S. You need to name the particular Vaio which you feel has the best screen of them all. For eg. the XPS 16 RGB LED is the best screen of any Dell laptop, the Dreamcolor IPS of the Elitebook is the best HP screen and so on.

I like the Z a lot. Honestly I like the screens in all my VAIOs, each of them I like for different reasons. The Z is very functional and productive, with great accuracy. A true desktop replacement. The P has a wonderful netbook screen, much more resolution than the competition. The UX has a tiny screen that was quite an accomplishment in it's day.

I like maximum resolution in minimum size, that is why have the computers and screens that I do.

I really liked the prev-gen VGN-Z series screens. My dad had a VGN-Z work laptop, and I was really inspired to get one for myself (for many other reasons too, but screen was one of them).

It was ridiculously oversatured, but it looked *good*. I don't really need the colour accuracy for photo editing, so I didn't mind. And it looked _really_ good, while being fully matte.

Unfortunately, I always thought the VPC-Z12 screen I got was not quite up to the same standard. It feels a little more washed out. And it is sorta half-matte-half-glossy. Still oversatured, but it doesn't have that awesome feel for some reason.

I like the screens on the VGN-Z, VPC-Z1, VPC-Z2, AR (full HD) and AW (full HD) series.

I really like my VPC Z 1080 and the VGN P/ VPC P 1600X900 screen. The DPI is pretty ridiculous when compared to the competition and color seems good.

I do dislike the glossyness of the P screen, though, since I use it in the lecture hall where there's really bright lights in the ceiling. There's too much glare.

The best Vaio screen I've used was the old TR5 - 10.6 inch 1280x768, and introducing "X-Black" shiny stuff for better viewing pleasures!

I used that machine for many years and never had a problem with sure a small screen as everything was so sharp and clear, and the machine came with an instant magnification button that switched to 800x550(ish) for those who were worried about things being too small. I've toyed with the newer TX and TZ in shops and they looked as good if not better but have no long term experience with them.
