    Hi!
I'm hoping to buy my first vaio laptop in a couple of weeks! :)
I don't know which model though.... maybe you can help me??

I am mostly just going to do the "normal" stuff, write, listen to music, surf the web... but I also want to be able to do some videoediting. Probably with Adobe premier pro since avid xpress isn't compatible with vista yet.

Ah, the faq... Here it is

    1) What is your budget?
Unlimited! haha, a little more than average...

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
    c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
    d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

I'm not really sure about the 17", unless it is slim and not to heavy

    3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in.
    Sweden will be the country

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Decided NOT to go with mac... I want it to be compatible with my work...

    5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
Normal stuff like writing, editing photos, surf the web and do some video editing - probably with Adobe premiere pro (or avid xpress)

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
    I'm taking it with me!

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
    nope

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    not less than 2hours

    9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
I want to see it, but don't mind buying it online

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
    Vista

    Screen Specifics

    11) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
    doesn't matter

    12) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
    Think I prefer a non-glossy

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    Yes, it is!

    15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
    At least 3 years

    Notebook Components

    16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 200GB?
    I have a lacie-disk for the videofiles, but I don't want under 160GB

I am video editing w/ my SZ640 successfully with Womble's editor. Womble might be different than your other choices for as I use a Hard Drive based Camcorder that provides MPEG2 files that Womble doesn't have to encode prior to making a DVD.

I upgraded my Hard Drive to a WD 320 that gave me a big performance gains. Also switched to XP Pro at the same time, found to many odd programs that were not supported in Vista.

On the glossy screen I have found it surprisingly delightful, except for if you plan to use under direct sunlight.
