I have an SZ480 and want to update the Nvidia graphics driver which seems like a V1 driver for Vista. I understand that Nvidia has released several updates, but that Laptop vendors tend to lag behind or avoid these updates. I have found that there are tweaks out there to make the Nvidia drivers support the 7400. Does anyone have any experience with them?
thanks

I have, and even updated the drivers. I have not been able to quantify a benefit, so i am considering rolling back. My questions is more around the experience that others have had in this space - without a gamer's need for the last ounce of power for which they will compromise and accept the occasional blue screen. It just seems to me that these vista drivers are rev 1 drivers. I would expect some room for improvement, but havent seen anything new from Sony since i bought the laptop.

i have SZ430N/B.....and i did a clean install of vista ultimate.....and i got 3.5 as index rating on it.
and after i installed the nvidia driver on sony site...the rating dropped to 3.2......isnt that strange??
shoundnt the driver provided, increase the performance? -
Not always if its an older version or sometimes "newer doesn't equal better".

anyone having problem with the "unofficial" (ie not release by sony) drivers?
i have seen the following problem with the hacked nvidia drivers on my sz483n/c from laptop2go:
1. brightness control does not work (fn+f5 & fn+f6).
2. frequent bsod when waking from hibernation.
roll-back to sony's 97.54 nvidia driver solved these problem.
Best graphics driver for SZ480 - Vista
