hey guys, i know it's still a while off, but i was wondering which vaio was best for college?

I've narrowed my choices to the Z, FW, and SR. Could someone give me the pros and cons of each in the view of a college student? aka, portability, battery life, design, etc.

also, could someone tell me why the Z is so expensive? (compared to, say the FW.) is there some feature or quality that makes it better?

    thanks alot!

Yes, the screen lid and and bottom enclosure on the Z is made out of carbon fiber, and the palm rest area+ keyboard spacing is a single sheet of aluminum. Compared to SR and FW, the Z is better build, more portable, has better screen (non-reflective coating, 100% color saturation, higher resolution. 16:9 ratio).

Also, the Z has two interchangeable graphics card (onboard intel GMA 4500 + nvidia 9300GS), and it also uses faster and more energy efficient DDR III ram, although not everyone can see a performance difference in daily usage.

    Recap:
Z: better build quality, dual graphics, better 16:9 screen, lighter, and achieving all of these without sacrificing performance.

Why is it a lot more expensive than SR and FW? B/c Sony expect you to pay a premium for t he flagship product of their already very premium lineup.

Prices of the pre-configured Z have came down quite a bit b/c of a possible future refresh. Now, you can get a Z590 with 2.53Ghz CPU for under 2k, and a Z540 with 2.4 Ghz processor for around $1500.
