    Hey Guys,

Do I just pick at the corner of the stickers, that are stuck on my new SZ, and pull it off?

I'm asking because they seem pretty firmly stuck on.

Also should I take off all the stickers?

I left the Intel, Vista, and nVidia stickers on. Everything else, I picked off.
Don't bother trying to preserve them--it's pointless.
Use the tip of your fingernail to lift them up, then rip 'em straight off.
Be sure to do it slowly--cleaning off leftover gunk is a big hassle.

LOL, I finally took my stickers off two weeks ago.

The only problem I had was the "Vista capable" sticker. Well lets just say it's not really a sticker, but more like a Very Hard piece of Aluminum metal.

So if you have that sticker, careful. I cut under my fingernail trying to pry it off.

I actually like to keep those stickers. I remember calling Sony Customer Service when I found out my last VAIO didn't come with one of the factory stickers it was supposed to come with that detailed all of its specifications.

    Cool.

I'll just take everything off but the Windows and Nvida stickers ... I don't want to keep the Intel one on because it's white ... could get dirty over time and contrasts too strongly against the overall charcoal body ... yes I'm a designer hahaha.

And I'll be careful not to cut myself. Thanks for the heads up LIVEFRMNYC. :)

I took mine off the day I got it.
Use goo remover to get rid of the glue residue or put the sticker back on and slowly pull, do this several times and the residue glue will come right off.

I try taking the Windows XP sticker from school, its hard as hell.

Its very hard to take it off perfectly because of that Aluminum metal type thingy... I want one for my desktop.. so pretty.......

I try my best to preserve them, I actually like the sticker.

Actually I might try to take all the stickers off because I had a look at my brother's 3 year old IBM T31 and his Windows sticker is just a square piece of aluminium. Heehee the entire image had been rubbed off.

Probably better to take it off sooner than later ... the properties in the glue could probably change over time.

Hahaha all this fussing about stickers.

    I reckon!!!

I took off the ugly, big spec stickers on my SZ. I just used a normal hair dryer and aimed it at the stickers. I also kept my finger right next to the stickers, because I didn't want my notebook to get too hot. If it's still comfortable for your finger, everything should be fine. Once you feel it gets a bit uncomfortable, just take the stickers and peel them off. At least in my case, it was extremely easy, left no residue and no scratches either.
Afterwards, I just let it cool off for a couple of hours.

Basically, if you hold the hair dryer at a certain distance and make sure things don't heat up too much, this shouldn't cause any damage at all. Notebooks should reach a higher temperature when operating under full load for some time.

I used the same technique to remove the badging from my A4 but it wasn't required to get the stickers off my TX750P. I don't care for all the in-store billboards plastered all over the notebook. If there's one thing Sony does pretty well it's aesthetics. I appreciate a nice, clean notebook. Stickers were easy to get off. Any residue left was removed with a non-alcohol solvent.

my stickers were off before I turned the laptop on. nasty things.

...but as for any glue bits or whatever left behind, use the sticker itself. When you take off a sticker, some of it will be in tact, and sometimes you may leave a little bit of whatever on the lappy. Just tap the sticky part of the sticker on whatever was left behind, and you'll see that it'll start to bring it off. Keep tapping until it's all removed. This works for just about any sticker on most surfaces... means you don't have to use goo-gone or whatever, and always left with a perfect surface. If the sticker itself isn't easy enough to hold, you can also use some masking tape or scotch tape.

The first time you do it, it may seem a little cumbersome, but when you're used to it you'll use it every single time you take a sticker off something. It really does have the perfect result.

The intel/vista stickers left a little glue behind, and a few taps and she's as clean as a whistle. :)

Heh --- I've found this process is indicative of a generation gap. I've used this technique for ages (back when music companies used to put big, ugly stickers right on jewel cases), but have found that a lot of younger folks have never heard about this process before. In any case, it does, as thekm says, work like a charm.

I always take these stickers off immediately -- I think they're an eye-sore for any computer....... ESPECIALLY for a computer that boasts aesthetics you're paying a premium price for.

there is a good way to take off the glue

use a eraser. if you do arts/sketching those eraser ar the best for the job

just erase the glue slowly and you will see eraser "dark black / grayish" eraser bits

AND REMEMBER to blow AWAY from computer, not TOWARDS your keyboard

i want the Window Vista capable sticker from school.... must find way to take it! Muahahahahha

Got my laptop since March and I still have all my stickers on, can't decide whether to take them off or not. But they all still remarkable! Except for the DLNA thingy sticker which faded and faded and fell off at the end. :p
