    Hi there,

Now that this info has been out for a few days can anyone confirm or refute my observation that the new driver is causing consistently higher power drain while on battery? From my observations I could seldom see the laptop drawing less than 15-16W while on battery. The old driver, in similar conditions and power plan drew 12-14Ws. I checked the settings on the Intel driver and found them the same..
I haven't experienced any flash issues or freezes and I tend to use the laptop on battery a lot - good battery life is paramount to me

In stamina mode with wifi on and balanced power plan I run between 9 and 12 watts during light web browsing. Same as the old drivers. Are you sure you don't have a process that's hyper or are you running in speed mode?

So far the beta graphics card drivers are working fine for me, no crashes or bluescreens to report here.

The esupport drivers page for Z1390x is up and I installed the new 190.24 from the site. Works fine with my Z11.

I installed the official 190.24 drivers from the Z13 download page. When It installed them, the screen flickered several times and at the end it stayed black. I had to force a shutdown. But drivers seem to be installed.

It is normal that the screen flickers during installation, as installing nvidia and intel drivers need to switch between the graphic parts, wich always make the screen flickers.
BTW, drivers installed from Z13 esupport page, works fine, no problem during installation (but be sure to set the switch on speed mode)

Has anyone else noticed this (particularly on Z11 ) but now that I have installed 190.24, the nVidia seems to run a lot more active (warmer) because now the fan has been constantly running higher or even at maximum and all i might be doing is letting the laptop sit idle on main desktop with no programs running LOL. A LOT of heat coming out.

I do not know what to do about this.. any recommendation?
Once again when I switch to Stamina, the fan kicks in low gear, and there is no problem with heat..

    Well...
I have also installed the official driver from the US site and I notice two things:
    1) My Windows experience scores went down from 6.4 to 6.3
    2) I can no longer play CoD2 Modern Warfare...

@corrado85: this might explain why I see considerably higher power drain while in Stamina and on battery, but need to check further. Can't say I experience higher temperatures in Speed mode, while in desktop and doing 2D work my temps stabilize ~57-60 Celsius.

So far I must say I am considering system restore. Would be typical if sony releases a driver that is even worse off than the original...

@corrado85: yes, look for other posts from me. I have had it repaired once already. Hopefully they were smart enough to apply some loctite to the bolts ;) Time will tell

I tried to install the official 190.24 drivers from Sony's site... but it failed giving me a "you have the 32-bit installer but this is a 64-bit"(or something along those lines) and then exited me out of the installation w/o installing anything. So, i used the ones on this thread and it installed, and i did get a black screen for the longest time... flicked to stamina then back to speed... got my screen back and it said successfully installed, rebooted and everything seems fine. HWmonitor reports 12.02 V draw at the moment w/ stamina, 50% brightness, wifi on and just mozilla on. Is that higher?

The Z12 "version" is the old one. The Z12 and Z13 (and Z11 for that matter) are practically the same when it comes to drivers (just make sure you're downloading the right drivers for the right OS though). So just use the one from this thread or from the download link i posted

edit: these new beta drivers seem to work happier with my Z, usually I switch my vid card and it asks me to turn off AIM, which i usually ignore. Now, it just flips without asking me to close AIM. Also, after the switch, AIM would flicker at times and although it'd still work, it would sometimes annoy me that i'd do a quick sign off/sign on. But now, it works perfectly w/o the prompt asking me to close AIM when i switch =D

Also what's supposed to be new with the drivers? Do they enhance speed or graphics?

Well, for one thing, I have a multi-monitor setup using USB->DVI devices and before this update I couldn't play FlightSim X. Now I can.

How do I know if my drivers installed successfully?

I ask this because my CPU just jammed while watching a youtube video in fullscreen.

I had my Z12 updated to the new 190.xx for the z13 and so far, so good.

But I have to admit I never had problems with flash video before.

I use several browsers: Opera, firefox, chrome and ie9 beta.
I keep flash 10.1 updated (it did prompt me for an update again today).

In firefox and chrome I use flashblock to only allow the pieces of flash I consider useful to avoid excessive advertising. Should not affect the issue at hand, should it?

Everything else keeps working without problems.
I even play with some overclocking in the gt330m: 575Mhz on the GPU and shaders locked.
