Hi, i have a VAIO FZ11L and curently trying to figure out why it takes so long to logon.

It's not super slow, when vista starts up i get the logo followed by the logon sound then it fades out and a black screen is there for a little while, then the cursor appears, then nothing for a little while longer then the start menu will appear massive but it will then sort itself out, then my wallpaper then the sidebar (still loading the 2 gadets i have an the systemtray icons at this point) then i have a working desktop but i can see HDD activity for at least 3 minutes after all this has happend.

Now when i had vista on my PC upstirs wich was lower specs (celeron D, 1 gig of ram) i could start the PC an when i got the logo followed by the logon sound, it would fade out and back in and everything would be there straight away, sorry, with 1 exepion, the sidebar would still be loading, but i would have a normal start menu (not massive when its loading) and a wallpaper along with icons.

What is causing this delay, im seriously thinking of downgrading to XP because of this.

You have a Vaio, you get all the junk software with it so it takes an age to load up where as on your desktop I assume that its a clean install without all the crapware... lots of threads already on removing vaio crapware already on here.

    Hi thanks for your replys,

thisisricardo, i tried them tools in that thread, decent tools although it never acually improved my boot time, its not the booting up thats the problem, its the logging in, i dont have many programs running at start and yes 'bobsmells' it is a clean install, when i got the VAIO i reinstalled vista because of all the crap you get.

The only thing i think it might be is something in the services, i disabled aload of services when i installed vista, though none i really use.
