So I have an unhappy little story to tell here, as I have still been shopping around for a bargain on the Sony VPC-Z 1080p LCD panel.

Sony's service plus site has been down for weeks, and the expected 'reopen date' has been pushed back over and over again for weeks now,
so I finally emailed them about the lcd/parts for my laptop, and they redirected me to the consumer parts site, where the 1080p lcd was listed as IN STOCK and only $199!

Of course, at this price and availability, I ordered it.

Now here is the unforgivable part:

On my order confirmation page, the order total was something like $212 including tax and shipping ($6).

As soon as I hit the submit order button, the order confirmation page loaded, and I scrolled down. UNBELIEVABLE. At the bottom of the order confirmation/receipt page, it says they charged me $522 and the unit is on BACKORDER.

Of all the things I have purchased online, from all the various vendors, eBay members, etc - NOT ONCE have I been charged a different amount from what is listed in my shopping cart/submit order page. I am the kind of person who carefully analyzes the prices and the breakdown of unit cost, shipping, and tax charges. The total listed above the submit order button, in this instance, was less than HALF of what I was charged, and mind you we are talking half a grand here (poor college student here).

Thank god for credit cards - I still have not received my 'instant order confirmation' email that's completely standard for online purchases like this
and this was about 15 minutes ago.

sorry this happened to you. I was in the same position and saw they had it in stock for $200... well i posted here and a few people posted that it was out of stock and that there was another part for $500. Although I think it showed them that on the checkout page. In any case, it's dumb that they don't update their system... although in reality there's no risk... just refuse shipment, and then they can't charge you.
