How much bloatware is there on a Sony VAIO SZ when you first purchase one? Is it really quite a bit and is it difficult to get rid of all of it?
I'm seriously considering an SZ but I don't want to really deal with having to redo the whole thing before actually getting to put it to solid use...

There is quite a bit of bloatware to sift through and uninstall on the SZ. The best way to make it perfectly clean is to do a full reformat. There are guides posted in this forum to do it, but it takes about 3 hours of time to do it.

bloatware wasn't that hard to get rid of. one click of the "dell decrapifier" (now called the pc decrapifier) took out 90% of the junk. the hardest were norton and could only be removed, at that time, using the norton removal tool.
with a 3rd party uninstaller program like smarty uninstaller/your uninstaller/advanced uninstaller....etc i'm pretty sure you can get rid of all the junk -
its not that bad and since you don't want to deal with it if you can order from portable one, as you have an option to get it optimized (removes all bloatware)

Hello, I'm new here. I was just wondering can I remove all Sony Vaio programs (Vaio Media, Vaio Photo, Vaio Data Restore Tool, etc) that come from the manufacturer safely?
Is the best way to do it is by uninstalling via Control Panel?
Sorry for asking stupid questions. -
The only Sony software I have installed is the Camera Capture Utility (for the web cam), Click to DVD, the Sony Notebook Utilities (power mgmt., Vaio Launcher, Vaio Event Service, Vaio Service Utility), Sony Shared Library, Sony Firmware Extension Parser and InstantOn.
If you do not know how, nor want to tackle, a clean install, at least do the semi-clean install and get rid of all the Sony crap. But yes, you can uninstall some of those others (Entertainment, Productivity) from the Control Panel but it WILL leave junk in your registry.
