Alright... i'm just starting to get annoyed now. So here's the deal:

Every time i either restart my computer or modify the icons on my desktop in any way, a new folder pops up. It is just a blank folder with nothing in it, and it is entitled the default "New Folder". I can't figure it out!!! It's driving me insane!!! Does anyone know why this is happening and how i can stop it?

    never heard of this before.

when did it start popping up (specifically what program did you install before this happened)? may be some program incompatibility with vista

Take a look on Run key in registry, and startup folder

    AutoRuns for Windows v8.61
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Utilities/Autoruns.mspx

This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.

qttask process belong to the Apple QuickTime video streaming tool. Quick Time (if you don't need it, uninstall quick time player)

ctfmon process belonging to Microsoft Office Suite. It activates the Alternative User Input Text Input Processor.

hey, i just tried going through my list of programs and i uninstalled everything that could be related to this problem. Guess what, still happens. And i dont think that it is a vista compatibility issue cause i happened when i had XP too.

    Any new ideas?
