I am anticipating my VAIO FW laptop with Blu Ray burner.
Where can i find cheap blank Blu Rays?
-
I would like to know too.
Also, does the PS3 read blu ray data? I would think it does? -
-
lol $20??
RIDATA BDR-252-RD-JC blu-ray write once 25gb 2x single jewel case (Retail) $5.98
at mwave dot com -
Hmm. Completely not worth it at those prices - given the cost of 1TB external drives.
-
Or even the cost of DVD-R ~ 100 4.7gb DVDs for $20 (470Gb) vs 4 25Gb BluRays (100Gb).
1TB hdd - $99
Take your pick
lol
-
Nah. DVD is way too small.
I would consider backing up on blu rays though. -
wow 20 bucks for 2 Blu rays is a good deal?
I might as well buy the Dark Knight Blu Ray and write over it! -
sonoritygenius Goddess of Laptops
Cheapest I found was like $12.99 for one lol
See Amazon list of all blu-ray blank media -
Will these be like real cheap a year from now?
Who in gods name is buying these at these crazy prices? -
Of course they will. Remember how much a DVD-R used to cost a while back?
I'm buying a D-Link NAS and 2 WD with 1TB each. -
Just use 8.5GB dual layer DVDs. I record HD content for blu-ray players on them right now. You can buy 50 for about $30. By next year we should get that price on BD-R disks. It might be a bit longer for the BD-RE disks.
-
Thanks bit of a noob in tech talk, what exactly is "dual Layer"?
-
These are discs with an extra layer on them for extra capacity. However, older players and readers may have trouble reading them and they of course cost more. A single layer DVD holds 4.7gb whereas a double layer holds about 8.5gb. A single layer Blu-Ray disc holds 25gb whereas a dual layer holds 50gb.
I have a couple of DVD-RAM discs and they are quite useful, being able to write to them like a hard drive.
Anyone know if there will be Blu-Ray-RAM discs? I know that there were HD-DVD-RAM discs in development but the format has been canned altogether. -
*thinks about price paid for Z*
*coughs gently* -
thanks, but You dont ahve to actually keep flipping the DVD from one side to the other right?
-
I dont know if you can buy mediums yet, but I have a drive that supports rewriting bluray discs - so the format exists definately
it's called BR-RE imo -
no. looks and works the same just greater density.

Hmmm... just wait till those 16-layer 400GB blu-ray discs come out in 2010...

...with 1 TB blu-ray discs slated for 2013...
...I wonder how big HDDs will be by then... or SSDs for that matter. :O
