I purchased a Sony VAIO VGN-NW270F/S with a blue ray player. Im trying to play the blue ray using the HDMI out to my Sony 46 inch HDTV, i got an error. After tech support with Sony, I basically am using my tv as a monitor and playing the blue ray there. My question is, what resolution is the blue ray playing in on my TV? The maximum resolution I could choose on the computer is 1366/768....how can i use the Blue Ray in my computer to play the full HD movie on my TV?

Try changing the resolution to the native resolution of your HDTV AFTER connecting with the HDMI cable. If your HDTV is 1080P, then you should be able to output 1920×1080 (1080P) from your laptop.

On a side note, 1366x768 is still considered "full HD" as this resolution is greater than 720P (1280×720).

You can't change the native resolution on any screen. Your HDTV is 1080P, so it's best if your laptop can output 1920x1080 (1080P).

Thats my problem, when i connect to the tv the highest resolution i can select for my computer is 1366x768 so Im assuming thats all the video card can handle. Is there any way to boost this? External video card, etc?

Try using a different GPU driver from laptopvideo2go. Even with integrated graphics, you should be able to output 1080P on to an external monitor/TV.

External video cards do exist, but are rare to come by and often very expensive. e.g. the Asus XG Station.

You need to set it up so that the laptop only send video signal to the external TV, exclusively. In my system, it is Fn-F7. Your system might be different but the button F(number) you should be looking for is the one that has 2 icons with backlash in between. The icon on the left represents LCD and the icon on the right represents TV with an arrow in it.

BTW, you should update to the latest video driver. Download the one from Intel, not from Sony.
