Ok I was just very happy that I managed to get everything working on my SZ6 after a clean Vista 32-bit install, all drivers provided by Sony working and all. So I decide its time for some tweaks, and disable UAC (User Account Control), after which I reboot the system to be welcomed with a Blue Screen, just before the Logon Screen, the Windows welcome sound just repeating itself in the background til a 100% 'crash dump'. After another restart Windows loads up normally, but when you restart again same problem...

So I thought the problem must have to do with something I installed before. Now I'm nicely reinstalling everything again to see what could have caused the problem (which is still there when you load the pc). Anybody else experience this?

Btw a tip for anybody reinstalling then who doesn't like UAC, disable it before installing anything :)

I have a feeling it might be the Protector Suite software trying to look back for files created before the UAC control was put off...

Ok, as I thought, it seems to be the Protector Suite software which caused Vista to crash upon loading the login screen. After uninstalling it Windows loads up fine again...

Though its quite probable that UAC may have caused some other damage to other proggies...so I'm looking onwards...

...will post what I find :)

Everything working fine again after reinstalling the Protetor Suite..

I think what we have learnt from this is that when you want to install anything, turn UAC off beforehand (certainly if you are planning on having it on afterwards).

I think I may make a clean installing a Vista 32-bit thread later after all these trial and errors if people want. From factory conditions -> Clean install witout the hidden partition.

    Yes, it would be awesome!

Is removing the hidden partition a necessary step?

Nops, not at all, but I like to have my entire hd free and even if I do have a recovery partition I would prefer it visible.

Btw, all the stuff on the hidden partition is on the 2 recovery dvd's you make anyways, and when you restore your system the recoverer automatically restores your recovery partition too, you can't even tell it not to.
