    Hello guys,

I'm new here, a friend of mine told me about your forum as an amazing source of information related to Sony's laptops. And I must say, wow, there are some pros in here GG !

Anyway, I just saw the thread about Sony coming clean on faulty Nvidia chips. And before taking any action, I just wanted to ask you guys if my problem is related to it and - if so - what can be done about it.

    Here's the thing:

Since a couple weeks before I installed Windows 7 (genuine, clean install), I started having problems with my screen, showing some blue waves (horizontal) or stripes (vertical) (see image)

It appears to be clearly hardware problem (since it doesnt appear on printscreens). Do you guys know I could fix this ?

Because I tried to install the drivers as explained in the guide here available, but after reboot, the GPU states NVIDIA GeForce 8xxx blabla but with I small yellow "Warning" icon - and when I click it - it automatically rolls back to "Standard VGU blabla".

Could you guys give me some advice on these issues ?

    Thx a lot !

    Jon

    Your Nvidia chip had failed.

But your AR5XX model isn't listed in the faulty Nvidia chip AR models. Anyway, you could call Sony.
