Before anyone points me to other threads, I've dutifully read them and have come to the conclusion that no one has the answer as of yet. But I'm going to take a chance and ask anyway, so that I can finally either resolve my problem or get a definite NO for now.
I'm trying to connect my WM6 device to Windows Mobile Device Center using Bluetooth without success. I know the Toshiba stack does not support it so I've tried to replace it with Widcomm 5. I've downloaded the modified Sony SZ Driver, which I understand was designed for XP, and it doesn't work on my system.
I've got an SZ45SN I bought last April in Thailand running Vista Business. I've read that Widcomm 5 is not compatible with Vista, but I've been unable to confirm if this is true or not.
I'm able to install Widcomm 5, but I can't locate the UGX driver. I've searched elsewhere without success.
So... has anyone successfully replaced the Toshiba BT Stack with Widcomm or any other stack for that matter on Vista? Have you been able to connect a WM6 device and sinc it over BT?

Keep the Toshiba stack, it works just fine.
Just make one change in Windows Mobile Device Center.
First, unpair your Windows Mobile device.
Under Mobile Device Setting - Connection Settings, change the second option(Allow connections to one of the following) from Bluetooth to COM7.
No other changes.
Now, when you pair your device again, it will find the ActiveSync service.
After that everything will work.
It took me about 2 hours playing with every combination to get my HTC TyTN II recognized when I switched to my SZ58GN, till I found this combination.
This is my first ever PC without a Widcomm BT stack - I can't say yet whether it's any better or worse, just different.

Don't know if you guys use pdanet but the toshiba stack does not work with it while widcomm does

Thanks billyb it worked. I can't understand why no one else has posted this solution. I've scanned several boards and all this board and it's such a simple solution.

To Dagobert:
You're welcome. It drove me nuts too, when I couldn't find a solution with Google. The SZ58GN is my first VAIO, my first machine running Vista and also the first machine I've owned without a Widcomm Bluetooth stack, so I don't whether this issue affects other manufacturers machines and WMDC. I guess there aren't many people using Windows Mobile devices here, otherwise surely someone else would have posted about this, because it is so counter-intuitive to set COM7 instead of Bluetooth when you want to connect via Bluetooth!!!!
To ng12345:
I don't know what pdanet is - I am presuming (distant memory from way back when I used a Palm Treo 650 about 2 years ago) it is a package that runs on your phone to allow it to be used as a modem. All Windows Mobile 6 devices connect via Bluetooth PAN now, so there is no need for packages like pdanet - and I can confirm that Connect via Bluetooth PAN works perfectly with an HTC TyTN II and VAIO SZ58GN running the Toshiba BT stack.
