After doing a few weeks of researching for the right notebook that suited for my needs, I wanted a laptop that was light, easy to carry around, and a 64 bit dual core cpu. I looked at the MacBook at Fry's Electronics, Dell XPS M1210 at a Dell kiosk at one of my local malls, HP dv2000 at Best Buy, and the Sony SZ330 at Best Buy. I eliminated the HP dv2000 due to the weak video card. I also removed the Apple MacBook off my list, because it did not have a core 2 duo processor, it would still been on my list if it had the core 2 duo processor.
My top two choices were the Dell XPS M1210 and the Sony SZ330. I bought the Sony over the Dell, because of the larger screen, better build quality, and better screen. With my new purchase, I am going to sell my gaming desktop with the monitor and games since I rarely play pc games. I just prefer to play games on my Xbox 360
I hope that I will enjoy using the Sony SZ330.

I hope you will too. I notice the SZ has moved up a rank and is now in second place for popularity amoung users.
-
SZ is awesome! It's like totally the best along with thinkpads!
-
Congrats on you choice
.Ive owned the sz330 for over 3 weeks having nothing but perfection.Very strong notebook f,sure
-
Do u feel any electric shock or Sony has already fixed it?
-
Sony adressed that issue with no shock present
-
Thanks. one more question: do you think the SZ330's screen is a little dim?
-
Can you give us some feedback on the heat and noice production (especially on the palm rest area)? I'm currently using a 2GHz MacBook Pro and it's getting way to warm for my taste to use this notebook for typing longer essays and stuff... :-(
Thanks,
Tom -
The 330 stays very cool with very litte fan noise. The palm rest is very comfe. The vaio screen is better then the rest f,sure. The screen is very vibrant. It,s funny you brought up your mac pro.I came so close to picking that microwave----micromac up .sorry for the insult but thats what I call them now since apple has taken such good care of there customers with such a jinx of a machine.Your safe with the sz series crazylexx.
enjoy -
These things are good to know, since I expect to get a SZ360 within a few months.
-
ronaldheld ive been through hp,toshiba, dell and a Sony vaio S-360 I hated and got rid of after a week.Sony has did a great job on the SZ series. It,s the best notebook ive ever owned. It really seem to good to be true sometimes. The SZ really put the rest to shame

As the originator of this thread, I decided to sell my SZ330P that I bought at Best Buy, since I bought the SZ370P today at a Compusa for about $200 more than the SZ330P and it is worth the extra money, especially for the brighter screen, carbon fiber casing, lighter weight.

Guys I just wanted to say that...Apple's warm laptopp roblem is gone. That was only for the first 25-30 weeks. Now, all the problems have been removed and it runs great. I am thinking of either getting the macbook or sz myself.
-
well... we wish you all the best with your Apple
-
What did you pay at CompUSA for it, its 2500 right now.
-
hey i too have a sz330... just a day old.. its awesome really.. those popularity ratings speak for itself!! nJoY
-
Given many strong features than SZ330, why SZ360 is just a little more expensive than SZ330 ($70)?
-
SZ360 is the start of the Premium series, which has ultra-thin carbon-fiber lid, LED backlight screen, etc., so the price difference should be a lot more than $70, can you post the link?
-
OK, I went to CompUSA.com and looked at their prices and that's a rip-off! You can get a SZ360 at Amazon.com for the same price as their SZ330, not a good deal!
And Amazon.com will swap you out a unit, with a stuck pixel say, without any hassle!
-
So you mean the cheap SZ360 selling at Amazone are the low quality ones
-
No Amazon.com sells what everyone else sells. I'm saying that you get more for your money at Amazon.com, the Premium SZ360 goes for the same price, after rebate, as the SZ330 at CompUSA.
Understood now?

Has Sony addressed the spacebar problem? I miss the wieght and gpu of the sz, but the keyboard was not a strong point.
Bought a Sony Vaio SZ330
