Hi ive just bought myself a Vaio A115S - I'll post up my opinions and comments later but first impressions are top notch especially the X-Black LCD.

However I need some help with one point; I've literally only unboxed it a few hours ago and ive noticed a dead pixel right in the centre of the screen. It only shows on a black background (when it flags up in blue). Should I take it back to the store or not?

It depends on where you bought it. Some stores won't accept one dead pixel for a return. If it were me, and I could exchange at no cost, I would do it. Bad pixels in a visible part of the screen can be a real annoying problem.

If you just have one bad pixel, I'd live with it. Most manufacturers have a threshold as to how many bad pixels are needed to replace the screen. If it's just one, you probably won't get it replaced without having to pay. Also check your documentation, my v505 guide had a paragraph that stated that it was possible that you may get one or two bad pixels and it is an expected defect in the manufacturing process.

I swapped the laptop this morning for a new machine, the store had no queries or troubles with it and didnt even check it. I'm a happy customer now :)

Once i've had a bit of use of the system i'll post up my thoughts and opinions for everyone.

Hey! I'm in love with this laptop! xD

    What about HD? rpm? Brand?

One last question: has the touch pad scroll?

    Tell us, please! [ :)]

    Regards!

Assuming the A115S is similar to my VGN-A170P...

    HD: 80GB - 5,400 RPM - Fujitsu Travelstar 5K80

Touch Pad - Yes, it is scrollable. Place cursor arrow on window scroll arrow and move finger up and down on right side of scroll pad.
