I just got a new Sony Vaio Z124GX. Can you offer any quick tips on which bloatware programs I should remove? Are there any other qucik tips? Also, there has been discussion regarding TRIM, and most say its not necessary, so is there anything I am supposed to do to turn it off?

Trim is already off. Search for your other q's...it's been adressed many times. Basically there isn't much/anything you need to remove.

If you got your Vaio Z with the Fresh Start option, I wouldn't remove any programs.

Agree with beaups. There are multiple threads in this forum titled almost exactly like this one. Do a search and you should hit some good info. But, if you want my opinion, I'll show you what I've been saying when this question is asked: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6416473-post5946.html.

TRIM is a good thing, and I think most peole argue that it is absolutely essential for an SSD. But it isn't currently possible on the Z. There is something on the Z that's not quite as good, but good enough and it essentially does the same thing as TRIM.

Adobe Reader is a prime candidate for removal -- it's horribly bloated, with intrusive auto-updating, and one of the apps with the most security holes reported against it.

Then there's Roxio Creator SE, which is a crippled version supported by "buy an upgrade now" ads which can't be turned off. I didn't pay $2500 for the opportunity to watch ads, thank you.

Sony's OOBE (Out Of Box Environment) is a rather big waste of space too.
