    Hi,

I just got my laptop and I did a clean intall of windows XP ... following one of the guides on this forum. When I was under stamina mode I installed the duo core patch, so I thought that it would fix my performace problem. But now when I am under SPEED mode i have a signifact drop in speed. Please see the pictures that I have attached and help me out.

    Thanks

Does the speed stay the same even when you do something cpu intensive? IE: photoshop? gaming?
Mine stays at 790mhz when the laptop isn't doing anything.

Install RMClock and use the monitoring page to check what the CPU is doing. Then run something like wPrime which will load the CPU.

I would also suggest that you install SP3 for XP.

Your CPU downclocks itself when you're idling or not doing any CPU intensive work. This is to reduce power consumption and happens on all notebooks. Don't worry about it ;) Once you start opening a couple programs, you'll see the speed jump back to 2.4ghz.

I'm glad to hear that the speed question is resolved.

SP3 should arrive through Windows update, but you can get the complete installer here.

(And if you want to use SDHC, you will need this hotfix. I think it is too recent to be in SP3).
