    Hay Guys,

I just bought this awesome sony vaio with windows vista home premium installed on it. I have only one problem with it and that is when i hit
Shift + " it does not display anything until i hit the " button again and then i get the characters "" coming up. If i hit Shift + " but instead of hitting " again i hit say "a" i get the character ä

Would anyone please be able to help with this problem as it is really beginning to annoy me  thanks. ;)

It sounds like your Vista is set up to use the United States International Keyboard. I have my SZ160 set up with United States International under XP to make it easy to use accented characters in non-English languages. You probably want to use the US standard keyboard instead of the US International one if you do not need to use accented characters.

Although I do not know if the procedure is the same in Vista, in XP you can go to Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages tab -> Text services and input languages -> Details -> Installed Services -> Add -> Keyboard layout/IME -> then choose the US keyboard and press OK. You should then make US the primary keyboard under "Installed Services". If you wish, you may delete the United States-International keyboard.
