Hi all.
I've just received my VGN TTWN/B two days ago. It has Vista Business installed by default and I've been going through the guide page by page to ensure everything's just right as I set it up. It's just fab!
Tonight I opened the power icon on the tooltray when the machine was connected to the mains (window showed: connected. Not charging. 80% charged) and proceeded to the lid/button power functions. Here, I found four boxes, two for AC functionality and two for battery. All four boxes were set to 'sleep'. To experiment, I changed one - the AC lid function to 'hibernate'.
I then closed the lid and returned a while later. By now the screen was black, but the power indicator (on/off button) was still lit green. I attempted to restart using the return key. Nothing happened and several minutes later, I decided to hold in the power on/off button for 5 seconds to try to shut the machine down and restart.
It didn't shut down, and once more I repeated trying to unhibernate using the return key, except this time, up came the phrase: 'Operating system not found.' I used various keys and the same message came up again and again.
Now the machine has been sitting there, black screen and with this message. It's disconnected from the AC and the on/off is still lit green.
I have been tempted to remove the battery and replace it, and start again, but this is where I run out of talent. I don't want to do anything to the TT which will screw it up.
System restore discs were made at the very outset.
Advice please.
Regards, J

You're not screwing up anything; just take out the battery for few seconds. Everything will be fine.

Hi there NYSOM.
I was still apprehensive, but I went for it, took the battery out for a moment and put it back.
Pressed the button and bingo! Windows resumed on the last page I'd been looking at!
Kudos and thanks to you, NYstateofmind.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what I did wrong or what happened to cause this problem?

Thanks, glad i could help.
It sounds like the computer went to Hibernate and had problems coming back. From my experience, Hibernate is a bit buggy sometimes and doesn't have a big advantage.
Sleep doesn't waste that much battery and i suggest you just set it to Sleep when you close the lid, whether it's plugged in or on battery. -
yes, it does happen to me from time to time. When it is trying to sleep, or hibernate, and I pushed the power button too soon, it will come back with "no os found" message. I just ignore it and keep my finger on the power button until it shuts down, then startup again. I never use hibernate

I own my TT for 2 months now, and I had a strange issue 2 times (only 2
).
At the end of my working session, I had shutdown Windows. It was "shutdowned" (black screen, no HDD activity, .no keyboard response, ) but the Vaio was still on (green light on the right of the hinge was on). I has to press the Power button for 5 seconds in order to power off the Vaio
I dont know if the last BIOS fixes this kind of issue. -
I'm really grateful for your posts and I will be back for sure if I encounter any further issues.
Thanks all!
