Hello everyone, I just bought a brand new VAIO laptop (model # SVE14A37CDH) with the following specs :

    - Cpu : Intel i7-3632QM @ 2.20 GHz
    - RAM : 16 GB
    - GPU : AMD 7570M/7670M and Intel HD graphics 4000
    - Windows 8 64 Bits

In a lot of games I have poor gaming performance, like in battlefield 3, I can't get over 25-30 fps, even with the lowest settings.

I tried to update the graphic card drivers, but according to sony website they are up to date ( I can't install the ones from ATI website since it's hybrid).

In the switchable graphic option, I chose the "high performance" profile. I did the same thing with the power mode in windows (high performance). Also I'm not having overheating issues, the laptop is on top of a fan and the performances are always the same.

Is this normal ? What could I test ?

    Thanks !

Are you really running the game with dedicated graphics? Check this first. Probably the game runs with integrated one. Don't know how it works with AMD graphics (was always using GeForce), but in my SVS I can click right-button and select "Run with High-Performance NVIDIA graphics".

Yes, this is what I did. It's the same principle for ATi.

You need to update your AMD drivers. That's the most important thing, my colleague bought a Toshiba laptop some time ago (7670M included) and had problems even when playing in 1366x768 with low details on Diablo 3. Drivers update fixed the problem. Have you tried using DriverGenius Professional? It can find the proper drivers for you.

There's not driver update available on the sony website for my computer. The ATI drivers are incompatible with my laptop since I have a hybrid gpu (Hd4000 / ATI ).

Sony doesn't update their drivers, at least not always. Look for modded AMD drivers.
Have you tried this thing? AMD Catalyst

Sony opted out for AMD support, they provide own drivers. I think 12.6 beta drivers should work. Try to google for Radeon 7670M drivers mod.

Yes I tried all the AMD drivers, the installer says my computer is not compatible with the drivers.
"ATI mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. The version of your graphic adapter is not supported."

I just did a little test, with the POWER SAVING gpu and the HIGH PERFORMANCE gpu with the catalyst switchable graphic interface, and it doesn't change anything. So I guess my laptop is always running the HD4000.

I installed some beta drivers for AMD (the 13.5), I gain a little performance boost, but it's still very sub-par performances. With all settings to LOW, with the lowest resolution possible (800x600) I struggle to maintain 35 fps.

Have you checked other games? Is your BF3 updated with latest patches? Try other games and give your response.

Is it a clean install or preinstalled Windows with Sony stuff? That makes big difference.

It's the same thing with other games as well, and it came with windows8 preinstalled with some sony stuff in it. It's brand new.

Sony driver is outdated in my opinion.
    You can try Leshcat driver.

Are you running on battery? Is the button switched to speed?
