I have upgraded to W7 pro, ran the companion DVD and everything is good except the FN brightness key (also changing brightness in W7 itself) they don't work.

I have been to the sonystyle.ca website and down loaded apparently the correct utility settings driver 5.0.0.07280 for W7 Pro 32-bit (at least it says on the website its compatable) and when I try to run it, it says it's for Vista only.

ok, as i cant install the above utility on W7 can I copy the hkserv file I have missing in my W7 Z620 from my Vista Business Z620? Will that restore my FN brightness keys? I have tried the W7 on Vaio Z procedure thread to no avail.

Right-click the exe then click the Compatibility tab, enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down menu. It's also a good idea to enable "Run this program as an adminstrator" while you are in the compatibility tab.

For many VAIOs it is the VAIO Event Service which enables the Fn keys for brightness and audio. You will also need to have installed the Sony Firmware Extension Parser. The drivers for the SFEP should have been automatically installed in your Win7 installation, but you should confirm this in your device manager. Finally the Sony Shared Library ties together the SFEP and the VES.
