i just downgraded my sz680 to xp using the driver on sony website, i got everything to work except the brightness control, i can't use the FN key to save battery, it's always at max brightness, only 2.5 hours, i need at least 4 hours like i used to have using vista to survive on campus during the day, i really need help from you guys, thanks a lot, appreciate it.

Do any of the other FN keys work in XP? I have an SZ680 with XP and every function keys operates the same as it did in Vista. You can also try manually adjusting the brightness settings. Under Control Panel-->Power Options, you should have a sony power management tab. There you can set the default brightness levels for battery and ac power.
