I'm running XP SP3 on my VAIO Z.

Installed all drivers and utilies on a fresh XP installation. (Must admin, that clean XP installation is way easier, than clean Vista Lol...)

    Here is my problem:
I set up "no action" for "lid closed" event.
When I close the lid and open it back - the brightness gets to 100%. Even though it is seet to 50% in power profile and it was set to ~30% manually before closing the lid.

I can live with that, but it is bit annoying to djust brightness back to good level every ttime.

Brightness also gets to 100% after wake up and power up from hibernation :(

Maybe there is some solution of update for XP drivers/utilities?...

    Hmm...
    Vaio SZ7

Max. Battery plus - if the screen turn black, or if I resume from Standby, the screen will always be at the lowest brightness, even if it was different before.

I think that I did manage to change it for Vaio optimized though...

Could there be 2 settings - one via Windows and one via Vaio?

    (Oh, this is on Vista)

No - at my power plan and wherever I can set the brightness to a value - it is 50% (for both AC and Battery power schemes)

And for example when VAIO boots up from power-off - the brightness is correctly set to 50%.

b.t.w. If M$ making any updates for XP drivers/utils? (Or we must live with what they release once Z came out?)

I'm sure, they will update Vista stuff, but... XP is also nice :)

I get the same problem (also running XP SP3 on Z) when I open the lid - and I've also set my lid to do nothing. However, when waking from hibernate, my brightness is only wrong during bootup (where full brightness is always used no matter what). As soon as I'm into XP, it adjusts back to where it should be.

I should note that the profile I'm using has "no change" for brightness - I like to adjust it manually and leave it.

Going to 100% when I reopen the lid is inconvenient. If anyone finds a fix I'd be interested! :)
