Well I'm pretty sure theres nothing my cousin can do, but his laptop's fan is broken and his temps get really high making it impossible to do anything.

He has a old Sony SZ-330. Any help appreciated.

Replace it. Fan+cooling system costs around 70$, which is nothing.

What is "broken"? Not turning? Try blow it with compressed air where air goes in and come out.

    ^^ Agreed.

I would also recommend review the power settings, and worse a re-install of the system - could be software related. Unless the OP meant broken as in "broken" hardware.

    cheers ...

I think that is a recipe for DISASTER. If the fan is not working there is no way a cooler can help. The heat will be trapped inside the machine.

I'm pretty sure the hardware is broken because he opened his laptop once and played around and the next day it stopped working. Still I could be wrong because the fan seems intact maybe just a loose wire somewhere? Also where would i find a new fan for his model?

    Thanks.

I'm just surprised that the BIOS in this model will let the computer boot up without a fan running. Refusing to boot on fan failure should be standard in all laptops.
