Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement screen for my vpc-z11 (1600x900)? Something fell off of the wall and hit the screen, and now when it turns on the screen looks almost shattered... I've looked on laptopscreen.com, but they don't seem to have the one for the new Z's... Thanks anyone for your help!

Yep. PAP is Personal Articles Policy. You get it from your insurance company. General cost is $1 per $100 of coverage a year. So it would cost $19/year or so to cover a Z at full retail value. They would pay for things like theft, lost or accidental damage. In this case, they would pay to get it fixed. Generally PAPs don't have deductibles. Much better than the rip off extended warranty policies.

Very interesting... I will have to get one next time.

Does anyone know if it is realistic to think that I can replace this screen myself? Would I need any special screwdriver and also is there anything close to a how-to on tearing these laptops apart?

There are a lot of screws, but the Z is dead simple to tear apart. Google and you'll find a step by step. I've swapped out the occassional LCD or 10 in my day. It's also quite simple.

Hey, does anyone have a detailed guide (prefereably with pics) on how to change screens on the VPC Z? Thanks!
