Anyone ever notice that half the time the finger print scanner doesnt work and you have to reboot the system for it to work again?

I get this often when I switch modes from stamina to speed and put the computer to sleep. Waking back up finger print scanner doesn't work. Reboot and its fine... software buggy?

Hmm, I never noticed that with my VPCZ1. The fingerprint scanner seems to work every time (work as in registering swipes - correct or not). The problem I have with mine is that sometimes it takes quite a few swipes for me to log it and it actually entered the lockout period once or twice.

For me I would have to log into protector suite using my password, register 1 finger print again and apparently that "kicks start" the scanner.

    Right click my computer
    choose properties
on device manager right click fingerprint device
    on the power management tab
    uncheck the turning off function

I had these problems before I bought an upgrade to UPEK Protector Suite 2009.
Now it works pretty well; it's only when the CPU is extremely busy (think load of 6 or higher) that it doesn't register a sweep, and, of course the problems being caused by the fingerprint reader itself being made for children and small people -- it's too narrow for big men. Paying $2 more for a reader that's a millimeter wider would have solved nearly all problems, but this is Sony, after all.

Okay, think i fixed the problem, reinstalled the software because, turned off sleep in power management (thanks vava) and remember to moisten your fingers prior to scanning, if its dry it will not read. Lick and wipe your fingers and you'll be fine :)
