Hi new to teh Sony forum. Could someone please help me out. I am looking for a business laptop max 14 inch screen. It needs to have a good keyboard and a matte (NON gloss) screen. Which models of Sony should I look at? I prefer the laptop to be might but do need some ok CPU so no ultra low voltage SLOW cpu; Thanks

unfortunately, there is no VAIO series to meet your requirement. best if you install the anti glare screen protector yourself.

The only VAIO with an almost matte screen (it's an XBRIGHT screen with an anti-glare coating so it's not as glossy as their other screens) is the BZ series at 15.4".

Or if you are willing to downsize the screen-size to 13.1", then the Z series has a high resolution screen that is not glossy and depending on the configuration you choose, it could be as powerful as any desktop replacement.

Z's are stupidly overpriced for what he's looking for, though

True, but just wanted to offer a Vaio option where the screen is not glossy, while having top specs otherwise. :)

So is the XBrite ECO not matte? Sony's site claims it is anti-glare, which is different than the "glare" most laptops have, but not word-for-word matte. If someone has it, is it reflective or not?

The FW series also notes that, "Also featured is a special, anti-reflective coating that lessens glare and light reflection." Is this truly non-reflective, or is there still glare in well-lit indoor areas?

You realize the "BZ" title is just a play on an acronym, meant to be pronounced "biz" for "business", right?

its even styled after the Thinkpad

xbrite eco: single backlight lamp. its not bright as much as the xbrite-duraview/x-black has; and yes its not matte.

i has VAIO Z with anti glare coating but i can still see the glare (only minor glare and not as much as typical glossy screen (e.g: macbook, alienware). to summarize, the anti glare coating does its job but it doesnt totally eliminate the glare like matte screen did.
This also apply to the FW mention above. Its lessen the amount of glare on the screen.

My vaio bz has the Xbrite screen and appears more mat than glossy. I can see the screen in a vehicle on a bright day.
