I recently did..well something to cause the headphone jack on my SR to just go limp and useless *that's what she said*....is it possible to fix this if I disassemble the thing? solder job to get it reconnected, or is it as good as gone?

i really dont want to have to buy a whole new laptop over this...

    thanks in advance

The ear phone jack is generally soldered to the sound board on almost all of the Vaio's that I have disassembled... You may find that either the jack has broken loose from the audion board or the audio board came loose from the mother board...
With that said... If the problem does concern a solder joint; you will need a VERY fine tip solding iron to reattach it and be careful not to apply too much heat for too long....
If you do a search on Notebook Review you should be able to locate the link for a PDF from Comcast on how to disassemble your VGN-SR140E.

Worth a try if you are a skilled solderist(er? titian? :p ) but otherwise a potential recipe for disaster.

However, since if you were to have it repaired by the official channels they would replace the motherboard in any case, I guess you don't have a lot to lose at this point. Good luck.
