Hey everyone. I need a new laptop for school, and for 1080p HD video editing. I have a Sony CX550v camera that I recently bought in October, and my current Dual-Core Toshiba can NOT handle the video. Anyhow, I've had my eye on the F-series a while now. They currently are $130 off, and 10% off if you buy the service plan (if you are a student), so its about $1475 shipped after taxes for everything I need + 2 year agreement, CTO. (Its $1515 shipped if you dont buy the extended service plan, because you dont get the extra 10% off. Essentially, taking out the 2 yr agreement, you get it for free and $50 off the laptop price, ROFL!)

    My current CTO:
    740m i7
    500gb HDD 7200rpm
    8GB DDR3 Ram
    1080 Premium Display
    425m Graphics Card

Now, should I just hold out for the 3D model? I would never use the 3D part, and dont care about 3D. The only part about the new F series that interests me is the sandy bridge 2.0gz i7, for faster video rendering. Do you think its worth the extra cost to get this better processor, over the 740m i7? And would the video card be better for what I am doing?

Thanks alot guys, and thank you for helping me with my first Sony laptop purchase. :)

I imagine that's what people said about color film when it first came out. I don't think many of those B&W cinematographers get much work anymore.

I would not buy a F13 now. Either wait for the new model or wait for the current model to hit the clearance section of Sony Style to save a lot of money. Why pay up to get the old model now?
