Because Sony could not fix my Z1290x, they issued me a Sony Style gift card for the price I paid for the machine since no comparable spec currently exists.
I must have:
1920x1080 screen
Core i7 processor
Issue i'm facing is that the refurb models don't seem to be a great value and only offer 90 day warranties. I called Sony inquiring about discounts to which they could not find any.
Moreover, i'm left with my ext. life battery, A/C adapter, noise cancelling headphones and Sony leather sleeve.
There's a model at $3099 that offers:
Core i7
1920x1080 LCD
metal mosaic finish
512gb SSD
8GB RAm
Large capacity battery
Does Sony ever clear out the refurbs? and should I just wait for the new Z and hope it's a better value?

About every month, sony has a 20% off coupon for the outlet stuff. You just missed this months coupon as it was last week. You could wait till next month, but I doubt they'll have any good Z's left by then. If you don't mind waiting 3 or 4 months then yeah it's better choice.

That's because all the Z13 refurbs are gone. There were so many a few weeks ago, but as soon as that coupon hit, they were all gone.I planned to get one last week, but they were literally selling by the minute. As soon as I add one to my cart and start the checkout process, it would say out of stock. I ended up getting one of the leftovers after the coupon expired. Anyway, there's barely a difference between the Z12 or Z13 (or even the Z11) so I wouldn't worry about that. Just keep looking on the outlet like twice a day because you never know when more might show up, I'm sure plenty people will be returning theirs after the recent blowout

lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
I and 4 others bought out the stock of refurb Z 11s for $845 tonite! http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/565131-i-bought-z-11-refurb-good-move-not.html
Now, they were 11s, had only 128 GB SSDs, a Core i5-520 cpu, but the rest was all goodness Z. The supplier, cheetahdeals.com has an excellent reputation and offers a 30 day FULL refund policy. Check the other site for updates as we receive ours. I don't know for sure, but I have the feeling they will get more in. Believe it or not, I was unsure if this was a good idea, which is why I started the thread "I bought a Z refurb - good idea or not? The response was overwhelming: great idea, stupendous price and, well, 4 others snarfed up the remaining ones in about an hour.
Buy Refurb Z or wait for new one?
