I am located in Canada and I would like to purchase a Sony S260. However, the unit is not available here.

I used www.pricegrabber.com to find that www.electricsam.com sells the unit for 1790 US + 38 shipping. This price is even cheaper than the price they ask for for the S150 here in Canada.

I am just wondering if I could trust this site. Also, is it a better idea to ship the unit directly to me in Canada or have them ship the unit to a post service places near the border and go pick it up in person? I've tried e-mailing this company few times but I never got any replies.

Last but not least, does anyone know any good Sony laptop seller in Canada?

    Thank you very much,

    Andrew

Wow that is a good price. I paid $1999.00 for mine and i'm waiting for my $100 rebate so that price is still better than what I paid for it. I'm not sure about those sites though. Can you take a road trip down to the US for some shopping? =]

merchants listed by pricegrabber are generally trustworthy. i had many times bought from merchants which pricegrabber listed. however, with so much credit card fraud around i really doubt very much if they would deliver to an address other than those recorded by your credit card company. in my case i have both my billing address and a secondary shipping address duly noted by the credit card company. whenever i travel overseas or go up north to canada and would be buying things outside the states, i would inform before hand my credit card company so that they know where i am going and shop.

perhaps your canadian based credit card company can also do the same. the next time you cross the border and visit friends or relatives in the State, have their address duly recorded in the bank's database, tell the bank that this will be your secondary shipping address while in the states (have a tentative date, how many days, etc. so that they have a time frame) because you intend to buy some electronic/computer stuff worth approximately so and so dollars from a such and such company.

when you shop online from us-based merchants and have a shipping address other than your billing address, when the merchant makes a credit verification check, the database will list as legitimate the shipping address you gave. problem solved. of course before you return to Canada you have to remove the merchandise from the box especially if you used a car to cross the border. a bulky stuff may arouse suspicion by canadian customs. good luck.
