    Hi there,

I have a friend in Japan who is going to try and pick up a TZ for me. I want the one with the Hard drive and DVD drive.

Does anyone know where he could get one from, and what the price in Japan is.

    Thanks!

P.s., obviously I want the one with English keyboard and will then install English Vista when I get it home.

    Go to pricejapan.com

They have nice prices. Depends of course of what combination you choose to put in the TZ.

if he's in Japan, wouldn't it be easier to order directly from sony japan? its the cheapest anywhere without paying a middleman fee.

you can request for the international keyboard when ordering from sonystyle japan..... that's probably the best way to go since you're planning to install the english OS yourself anyway.

I live in Japan and I bought my TZ directly from Sony Japan. It's cheaper than PriceJapan. I have the 32GB SSD, 160GB HDD, Large Battery, and accidental insurance total $2400.

let me know what options you want and i'll check sony japan website and find out the price for you.

btw, from now to july 20th sony japan is offering a discount of 10,000 yen if you get the TZ core 2 duo processor.

I have a suspicion there is an alternative to installing English version of Vista.
I believe if you upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate then you have the option to totally change the language interface (as with Windows XP Multi User Interface packs that were only available to corporate purchasers).

[I was looking at this option in China when I was planning on buying an SZ - though in China there is no online "Anytime" Windows upgrade available. I didn't actually try it as I ended up ordering a Dell - but I may get a chance when it arrives as I still ordered it with Vista Ultimate]

Stop Press: Here is a link discussing the pros and cons of using the English Vista Ultimate MUIL:

    Hi,

My friend is only there for another day so would have to go into an actual shop to buy it.

Want the one with 2GB, Big hard drive and DVD drive. The processor istn't that important to me.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I put in an order at conics.net back on 6/29 and got an update from them last Friday that said that Sony is now quoting a "latter half of July" delivery timeframe for all configurations of the TZ. Makes me wonder if they have stopped distributing the unit to fix the often reported issue with the power connector not always working right.
