    Hi all!

The more I read about the Sony SZ, the more I fall in love with it! But after long while of research, it seems that only the premium japan spec has this superb premium quality carbon case (which is missing in the SZ38GP in my country, the so-called premium version), but do correct me if I'm wrong.

I saw this new model in sonystyle japan, my god they're selling cheap compare to any country! I'm thinking of ordering directly from Japan, but I never deal with Japan online shoppings before, has anyone did this? Mind sharing your experiences?

    Thanks in advanced!

I think if you buy it in Japan, you won't be honoured the warranty outside Japan.

Yep. If you need service while it is still within the coverage of the warranty & plan on making use of the warranty, you'll have to send the laptop to Japan for service.

pigcat, where are you located? This may help us to suggest the relevant web sites that you may want to consider buying from.

You'd need to buy it from an importer who would handle any warranty issues. You can't order directly from SonyStyle Japan yourself.

Thanks for the reply guys! Yes you guys are right, there's nothing more important than the warranty as a buying guide, but it's simply pity that my country doesn't offer it. By the way, i'm from Malaysia. I think i need to reconsider it...

Nice to hear from a Malaysian! Yes there's 3 types of the material, the cheapest is the metal alloy thingy, which doesn't make the super thin LCD panel, next is the carbon which has greyish colour like the SZ38GP available in malaysia, and I can see the one offered in Japan website is different, with the criss cross pattern surface and black/brownish apprearance. IMO the looking is really something to die for, that's why I really wish to buy one from there. And bear in mind, with C2D 2Ghz, 120GB harddisk, 1GB RAM (basically the same spec as SZ38GP), the price is around RM8200 INCLUSIVE of tax, imagine if you buy it as a tourist, you can have the tax refunded at the custom! (of course, the trick is how to get pass the malaysia custom heh heh)

Sometimes I really don't mind taking the risk of getting one from Japan, unless I'm going there, I doubt there's a way to buy online...

Oh well, perhaps I should get the Fujitsu instead.
