ok, im giving my lenovo y510 to my little sister now.
I'm picking up the laptop tomororw locally, i talked to the guy, he seems to know alot bout the computer and claiming that im getting a great deal, of course he'll say that since im the buyer . but i want to get other peoples input as well.
for $800, he wouldnt budge for $750 so $800 it is.
its for the new sony vaio VGNFW290-CTO with blu ray hdd
he said brand new. cause he bought it originally for his father but didnt need it.
some 411::..
- hasnt registed yet for warranty so i can have it registered under my name, he bought through sony website.
heres link to the ad on craigslist

Eh, it's a fair deal. It's not AMAZING. But it's totally fair, especially with Blu-Ray.

I had gotten the "amazing deals" like you were referring to when i took the time to shop for display models and such where i gotten this lenovo y510 for $450 with 3yr warranty, which they had it displayed for $650 for it and not includin the warranty that costed $70 dollars.
.but i have a thing for sony vaios. its not quite heavy as my lenovo and is thiner/sleekier. also its simpler to use than useless gadgets on my lenovo thats i think is only for appeal.
i might try to back off and see if he'll drop the price to $750.
every email i kept getting "yeah theres another interested buyer, so act fast" could be but who knows. ive seen that ad on craigs for a while, so ill try to get a deal i want
Anyways thanks again for the input. -
If you fill out the "What notebook should I buy?" FAQ and set your budget at $800 dollars, you can probably get a better laptop.
Not sure about it being a Vaio though. The one you linked to is actually pretty low end (16.4" display, 5400RPM drive, 2GB of RAM, low end CPU) though. -
First off, the Blu-ray and 512MB 3650 graphics cards are standard and free anyway, so his main selling points are thrown out.
I say no. Looking at the Sonystyle page, and the fact that his is the most basic configuration at $839.00, I don't see where he get's the "over $1300" figure. So from the basic config, it's only a savings of $39 + shipping, minus three months of warranty. Plus, at one point the seller claims to have bought it on 2/27/09 for $1300, but later says that the warranty began on 12/23/08. Why is he so confused?
I'd rather buy one brand new, but with the Full-HD screen, so that the Blu-ray player isn't wasted. -
sounded like a salesman so i had to do some research on the web myself.
by the way which vaio comes with the full-hd screen? would it be within my price range you think.
man, come to think of it, i think that laptop is probably the closest thing i can afford if i want the blu ray. -
The 1080p screen is a +$100 upgrade you choose when you buy it new. Click here.

The first one is an auction with over a day left and 18 bids. It's going to AT LEAST double in price.
I still suggest you fill out the FAQ. -
